Man stabbed in Gateshead

Police are appealing for information after a man was stabbed in Gateshead. At around 3.10am yesterday morning (Wednesday) police received a report that a 29-year-old man had been attacked outside the Best One shop on Victoria Road. An unknown male had got out of the passenger seat of a red vehicle before approaching him and stabbing him in the chest. He then fled the scene. Emergency services attended and the victim was taken to hospital by paramedics for serious injuries. He underwent surgery and is in a stable condition. Officers have been carrying out enquiries into the incident and extra patrols have been in the area to reassure any concerned members of the public. Police are now appealing for anyone who can help them with their investigation to get in touch. They'd particularly like to hear from anyone who may have seen a red car and a silver car leaving the area around the time of the attack.
