Man Arrested After Body Found In Newcastle

An investigation has been launched in Newcastle after a man's body was found in Fawdon.

A 34 year old man has been arrested following the discovery of a man's body in Newcastle.

Emergency services were called to a pathway between Dorrington Road and Hazeldene Avenue in Fawdon on Saturday morning (June 6.)

Police are yet to identify him and his death is currently being treated as unexplained.

Northumbria Police say they want to speak to anyone who was in the area in Fawdon near Kenton Park Sports centre between 7.30am and 8.30am on June 6.

Acting Detective Chief Inspector Andy Fairlamb said: "We urgently need to find out the identity of the man who died. We'd appeal for anyone who may think they know who he is to contact the police straightaway. We're also appealing for anyone who was in the area at the relevant time and who may have seen or heard something unusual to contact police. A 34-year-old man, arrested in connection with the incident is being held police custody.
