Two teenagers have been arrested after a woman and her seven-month-old baby were involved in a hit and run in Blyth.

They were hit at around 8pm on Thursday, October 6, at the junction of Southen Avenue and Wordsworth Avenue.

The driver of the Vauxhall Astra left the scene and police later found the vehicle abandoned nearby on Keats Avenue. Neither the 32-year-old woman or the baby were seriously injured but they were taken to hospital by paramedics as a precaution. Two men - aged 18 and 19 - have been arrested in connection with the incident and released on bail as Northumbria Police's Operation Dragoon team investigate the incident. They have been reviewing CCTV which shows a number of witnesses were in the area at the time of the incident. They have now appealed for those people to get in touch. Anyone who saw the incident, or has any information that could help the police investigation, should contact the Op Dragoon team by calling 101 and quoting log number 1106 06/10/16.
