Heartbreak Over Death Of Newcastle Teacher

A Benwell school say they are heartbroken over the death of one of their teachers.

A Benwell school have said they are heartbroken over the death of one of their teachers.

Wadud Abdul got into difficulty while swimming in the River Tees on Thursday (28th May).

He was on a family day out at Low Force near Middleton to celebrate his 36th birthday.

Wadud was a teacher at Hadrian School, headteacher Chris Rollen said: “He’s built a lot of strong relationships with those youngsters, parents and siblings.

“They’re feeling the loss like we are, the loss of a fantastic teacher.”

There is now a fundraising page to help the 36-year-old’s family raise money for his funeral.

It has raised more than £3000.

Former colleague Ryan Patterson said: “I thought that little bit of money might help his family.

“He was just such a nice guy, he’s obviously touched a lot of people over the years.”
