Guisborough Star Dishes The Dirt On Her World Famous EX…
…World Famous TV Show X Factor that is!
“I’m glad I did it… but I’m glad it’s over.”
Guisborough’s own Abi Alton has given us the low down on her time on the TV show back in 2013.
20 year old Abi made it in the final eight, reaching week five of the live shows and a spot on the X Factor UK tour.
She’s got no regrets, but admits it’s like a boot camp lifestyle, pushing you to extremes mentally and physically and you’re completely scrutinised from head to toe.
Olly Murs, One Direction and Little Mix are all superstars that've been churned out of the X Factor fame machine.
But can the TV show can make or break you - and what if you're dumped?
“It was incredibly pressurising but at the same time it has made me into the person who I am and I don’t think that without it I would be able to do some of the things that I’m doing now”
“The X Factor is very much a boot camp for the industry and it is incredibly tough. I’m not going to lie about that. You’re treated like an adult, you have to act like and adult and I was just a kid really.”
“I did find it very difficult after wards, because it’s like, people all of a sudden, they expect you to be signed and they expect you to have this amazing career of the back of the X Factor because it is such a big deal… but that doesn’t happen for everybody.”
“It is a reality TV show, bottom line it’s that before it’s even a singing show. But that’s very hard because not only are you being put under the spotlight for your music but you’re being put under the spotlight for your personality. You’re being completely scrutinised from head to toe.”
Abi’s now taking her music to the next step by releasing an EP in August. She’s given us a taste of it by releasing her single, Souvenirs – we’ve shared the video below.
Next the Guisborough star is London bound doing gigs and showcasing her song writing with hopes to secure a publishing deal.
