5 injured in crash between Police van and taxi in Newcastle

5 people have been injured after a crash between a Police van and a taxi in Newcastle.

Police are appealing for witnesses following a police van was involved in a collision in Newcastle. Just before 9pm on Sunday, October 30, a police Vauxhall Vivaro van and a silver VW Passat taxi were involved in a collision on Barrack Road at the junction with Brighton Grove. The taxi driver and two passengers, who were travelling in the car at the time of the collision, were taken to hospital and received treatment to whiplash style injuries.

All three have since been released. The two male officers who were in the police van were taken to hospital with injuries. Both have since been released from hospital. Enquiries are ongoing to establish the cause of the collision and anyone who saw what happened, or who has any information, is asked to contact police on 101 quoting reference number 1300 30/10/16.
