Matt Cardle breaks his silence over Ed Sheeran 'copying' lawsuit
Singer has his say
Matt Cardle has broken his silence on the lawsuit with Ed Sheeran indicating he has nothing to do with it. The news broke yesterday that Ed is being sued for a massive $20 million after allegedly ‘copying' Matt's third single 'Amazing' on his hit song 'Photograph'.
Songwriters, Martin Harrington and Thomas Leonard, claimed "The chorus sections of 'Amazing' and the infringing 'Photograph' share 39 identical notes, meaning the notes are identical in pitch, rhythmic duration and placement in the measure.
"The similarities of words, vocal style, vocal melody, melody, and rhythm are clear indicators, among other things, that 'Photograph' copies 'Amazing'."
Despite this, the former X Factor winner has now broken his silence and distanced himself away from the case.
Taking to Twitter, Matt told his 866k followers 'This is not my lawsuit' and went on to add he thinks Ed Sheeran is a 'genius'.
Ed wrote the popular track with Snow Patrol's Johnny McDaid, he is yet to comment on the claims.
