Tributes have been flooding in to celebrate the work of Dad's Army writer Jimmy Perry, who has passed away at the age of 93.

Jimmy Perry was the renowned creator of Hi-de-Hi, You Rang M'Lord? and Ain't Half Hot Mum.

Dad's Army was by far Perry's most celebrated work, running from 1968 for 80 episodes over nine years. Hi-de-Hi ran for eight years.

Jimmy Perry was born on 20 September 1923 in Barnes, South-West London. Dad's Army was popular over many generations of people, and has strongly influenced popular culture in the United Kingdom.
