Sixty-something couple become Christmas Internet sensation with their ‘Babbvent Calendar’
We spoke to their daughter about her parents' fame!
When Fran Babb decided to create an advent calendar from her parents' Christmas pictures, she had no idea that three years later, they would become an Instagram sensation.
Helena and Peter Babb are no average sixty-something couple; through a number of hilarious Christmas fancy dress shots, they have attracted something of an Internet following.
We managed to have a chat with Fran about the 'Babbvent Calendar', and she explained that it all started by accident.
"We were in New York on holiday a couple of weeks before dad was due to have an operation, so to lighten the mood, I took a Christmas tree onesie with me to make them wear for photo opportunties around the city.
"I had loads, and when I got home, started to think maybe I should do an advent calendar. I uploaded the first one and my friends all started texting to say how much they love it.
"Three years later, it's got its own little following!"
With over 2000 followers on Fran's Instagram (@frannybabb), she admits that her parents have felt a bit bewildered by its popularity.
Fran, on the other hand, absolutely loves having Instagram stars as parents.
"I've always known how amazing they are, how they're brilliant and a bit bonkers and utterly hilarious, and I love that everyone else can join in the fun now too!"
We really hope Helena and Peter keep the Babbvent Calendar going, as it is utterly hilarious.
