10 ways to make New Year’s Day amazing
Forget the hangover!
New Year's Day follows one of the most notorious party nights of the year, so it’s really tempting to spend the day being lazy or with a hangover! However, we think it should be a cause for celebration.
Don't waste the first day of the year in bed, make sure you get up and try out some of these great ways to make New Year's Day a fun one…
1) Get the family back round for a big meal
It's Christmas part two!
Get all your family back together, starting the year off in a great way before everyone gets back to work.
2) Use your Christmas presents
Now all the excitement of unwrapping has died down, take a moment to use your pressies, whatever your age!
3) Use up leftover Christmas crackers
There's always one too many isn't there? Use up your Christmas crackers while you're still in the festive spirit.
4) Experiment in the kitchen
You know that dish you've always wanted to make, but not had time to? New Year's Day is the perfect opportunity, while you have a bit of time before getting back to work.
5) Get out the photo albums
We all love flicking through the old photos from days gone by, so why not reminisce about past times with your family, or show the kids embarrassing photos of themselves!
6) Work on your resolutions
If you've said you'll join a gym or learn a new skill then look into how to make it happen! Don't put it off 'until another day', start the year as you mean to go on.
7) Play board games
Switch off the TV and enjoy some quality family time, which may or may not lead to everyone falling out - tread carefully! If you're bored of the 'usual' games why not try something more unusual?
8) Invite friends round
Christmas is such a busy time of year that you don't always get a chance to see your friends, so why not start the year off seeing the friends you didn't get a chance to see late last year.
9) Go for a walk
Try blowing the cobwebs away with a fresh New Year walk, with your friends, family and/or dog! Rain or shine, it's a great way to clear your head and enjoy a bit of quality time together.
10) Find a bargain in the New Year sales
Whether it's in person or online you can treat yourself to that present Father Christmas forgot to get you!
