He spend most of this hotly anticipated film by himself..

Only recently NASA discovered water on Mars, giving them further hope of finding life, now a film set on the Red planet hits the big screen.

Adapted from the book of the same name, 'The Martian' sees Matt Damon play Mark Watney, a NASA Astronaut who gets stuck on Mars during a failed human mission.

With minimal supplies and no way to contact earth he has to find a way to survive.

His cast mates Jessica Chastain, Kate Mara and Chiwetel Ejiofor play a mixture of fellow astronauts and ground crew, and told our Entertainment Hub why Matt's solo performance is so good.

But both Jessica and Kate told us they've got no plans on joining any future missions out of this atmosphere, admitting there are things they would miss too much at home.

Just last year Jessica appeared in another film set in space 'Interstellar', but didn't get to wear a spacesuit for it and admitted watching her co-stars do it then made her really want to take part in this film and do the zero gravity scenes.

The Martian is in cinemas nationwide now.
