Living with a greener garden makes you live longer

A new study has proved that it improves physical and mental health

A new study has revealed that people living amongst plentiful greenery are more likely to be healthier and live for longer.

So, the greener your garden, the better your physical and mental health. In fact, those with the greenest gardens have a 12% lower mortality rate than city-dwellers!

Having a nice green garden has been proven to lead to a decreased exposure to air pollution and improved well-being. It also produces lower levels of depression – so the greener your garden, the happier you will be!

In the study, there is more detail about policies to increase vegetation which may provide opportunities for physical activity, reduce harmful exposures, increase social engagement, and improve mental health.

But of course, this isn’t possible for everyone. However, you can spruce up your outside area, add some plants to your house or even simply add some herb pots to your kitchen shelf and improve up your wellbeing in the process!

Time to ditch the Oyster card and grab the gardening gloves, then!
