Lionel Richie is set to receive 'Songwriters Hall of Fame' honour!

He will be joining Carole King, Bruce Springsteen, Stevie Wonder and more!

The 'Dancing on the Ceiling' singer is being honoured at this year's Songwriters Hall of Fame Awards in New York on June 9th.

He's being given the 'Johnny Mercer Award' which is awarded to artist who uphold the gold standard!

Kenny Gamle and Leon Huff, co-chariman of the Songwriters Hall said: "Lionel's songs made you love and dance and will last forever in American culture; but he truly demonstrated the power of songwriting with his masterful co-writing of the global song 'We Are The World' with Michael Jackson".

It's also been revealed that Elvis Costello, Marvin Gaye, Tom Petty, Nile Rodgers & Bernard Edwards and Chip Taylor will be inducted into the Songwriter Hall of Fame this year!

We're very excited for Mr Richie and can imagine he's dancing around his house like this...
