Heathrow celebrates its third runway go-ahead by sending Amsterdam's airport a cake

Yes you read that right

Yesterday, Heathrow airport finally got the go-ahead for a third runway which lead to a 'sweet' conversation between Heathrow and Amsterdam's Schiphol airport on Twitter.

Unbeknown to many of us, every time there was a delay to the decision on Heathrow's third runway, Schiphol airport would send them a cake!

The last time this happened was in 2015, as seen by Heathrow's tweet...

Following the announcement of Heathrow's third runway yesterday, Schiphol was quick to congratulate the London airport saying, "Our cake is on its way... AGAIN. ;-)"

To which Heathrow replied with a gif.

A short time later, Heathrow then decided to return the favour, tweeting, "Cake's on the way! Love, Heathrow"

And this morning, Schiphol tweeted their thanks for the Heathrow's baked gesture. They posted a photo of the delicious cake that had been sent to their offices saying, "Worth every calorie!"

Schiphol has been taking advantage of the delays in Heathrow's expansion, as it meant that a lot of airport traffic was directed through it, both to and from London.

Time to get baking for our friends over at Magic Chilled and Mellow Magic, then...
