A wedding dress is often the most expensive item of clothing you’ll ever own, and most brides only ever wear it on their big day.
Samantha Burns adores her wedding dress so much, and was sad at the thought of only getting to wear it once.
Speaking to Brides magazine, she said,“As my husband and I wrapped up our wedding celebration, I did not want take off my dress. I had looked forward to the day for so long and couldn’t believe in a matter of hours it was over. It was in that moment that I turned to my husband and told him that I intended to wear my wedding dress for every anniversary as long as I could fit in it!
" I envisioned myself doing the activities we enjoy as a couple, frolicking around restaurants, parks, and ice cream shops in my white gown. As we embarked on our happily ever after, I felt giddy about the idea of celebrating each milestone with such a fun and sentimental tradition.”
On their first anniversary, she packed her precious dress in her luggage and made sure they arranged activities where should wear it. Everything from eating out, sampling fudge in a candy shop and even playing golf!
For their second anniversary this year, the couple went on a boat trip and Samantha wore her lovely dress again.
The dress is now waiting for its next outing in 2017, and even though it has a few stains now, she wouldn’t have it any other way,“I much prefer this than keeping it in a pristine box that will never see the light of day, or my husband’s adoring eyes. I smile when I walk past it, the light catching the sparkles, as if it’s winking at me, saying, ‘I’ll see you next year!’”
