The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have welcomed a new addition to their family, in the shape of a pet dog! According to Royal biographer Sally Bedell Smith, the couple have adopted a black labrador who they have named 'Oz'. It's not yet clear why the couple have chosen the unusual name of their new pet.

Speaking about the new addition to the Royal household, a source told MailOnline, "The dog is already happily ensconced at their cottage. Like the Sussexes, the dog will divide its time between the palace and their country home in the Cotswolds."

The Duchess, who is known to love pets and dogs in particular, had two dogs before moving to the UK and even brought one of them, a rescue beagle called Guy, with her. Her other dog, Bogart, stayed with a friend due to his old age.

Bogart was chosen from a dog shelter in Los Angeles after Meghan Markle was persuaded by TV presenter and comedian Ellen DeGeneres. Back in 2016, The Duchess told Best Health, "I was in LA and I went to this dog rescue shelter. They found them in an alley in this neighbourhood called Downey at five weeks old. So I saw him and I was sitting there with him and then Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi walk in.

"Ellen goes ‘Is that your dog?’ And I said, ‘No,’ and she’s like, ‘You have to take that dog.' So I brought him home. Because Ellen told me to!"

Former Suits actress, Meghan Markle, and Prince Harry married back in May at Windsor Castle. The wedding was attended by Royalty, showbiz royalty and some specially selected members of the public.

In other Royal news, the Duke of Sussex was recently videoed singing on stage in London's West End. The Duke was at a fundraising night held at the hip-hop musical Hamilton which mocks the British monarchy! In the short clip posted on Twitter by Kensington Palace, The Duke can be seen taking to the stage, starting to sing, "You say...", before stopping himself he received a loud applause from the audience. He then went on to give a speech to thank everyone for raising money for Sentebale.

Hamilton was created by American composer Lin-Manuel Miranda, who is known for his work on Disney's Moana soundtrack and is also due to appear in the upcoming Mary Poppins Returns film.
