Serious crash closes part of M65 in Lancashire

It happened between junctions 5 and 6 on Friday night.

A serious collision has closed part of the M65 in Lancashire, with a warning it will take "some time" to re-open.

The motorway, between junction 5 near Guide, and junction 6 near Blackburn, has been closed since around 9pm last night (6 September).

A spokesperson for National Highways said: "The M65 is currently closed due to a police incident.

"The M65 is closed in both directions between junction five, Guide, and junction six, Blackburn, for a police-led incident.

"There is no estimated time for reopening at this time."

In a post on X this morning, Lancashire Police added: "The road is still closed, and is likely to be closed for some time.

"Please ensure you find alternative routes if travelling today. Once we have a further update, we will make you aware."
