Met Office issue weather warnings for heavy rain across much of UK
England and Wales will be hardest hit many areas seeing heavy rainfall
The Met Office has issued three weather warnings for heavy rain across much of the UK this weekend.
Areas across the Midlands and South West will be particularly affected during the three days, with localised flooding likely across the regions.
Meteorologists had initially issued a weather warning for thunderstorms across Wales, the Midlands and the South West.
This would run from Saturday morning (September 21st) until late on Sunday evening (September 22nd).
Initially, it was believed that the thunderstorms would gradually increase in strength before passing over the Irish Sea; however, heavy downpours of as much as 80 millimetres were being predicted.
Then, a second warning for heavy rainfall was added across much of the same affected area, with other surrounding areas including west London being affected.
Officials at the Met Office have now issued a third warning that extends into the South East of England, central Wales and into the North West and North East on Monday (September 23rd).
According to forecasts, the Met Office said it was not certain which areas would be hit hardest, though east Wales and Midlands would be particularly affected.
The office said: "There is potential that 30-50 mm could develop in any part of the warning area, much of which could fall in six hours or less.
"Some locations could see 80-100 mm over the course of 12 to 24 hours."
As a result, the Met Office has urged those living within the impacted areas to be prepared for disruption, with isolated communities possibly being cut off due to flooding.
