About Tim Smith
Born in Swindon, but brought up near Oxford, Tim started out playing at radio stations in his bedroom. Following university radio and work at CHOM-FM in Montreal he went on to work at various BBC local stations before presenting his own programmes on BBC Radio 1, 5 Live, BBC World Service, GLR, Magic Radio and Jazz FM. He is perhaps best known for a 23-year association with Steve Wright in the Afternoon on BBC Radio 2. During his career he has interviewed two Prime Ministers, one Vice-President, two Beatles and the entire Rolling Stones amongst many others.

Essential film score: The Magnificent Seven by Elmer Bernstein
Classical shower tune: Toreador Song from Bizet's 'Carmen' (along with There is Nothing Like a Dame from Rogers & Hammerstein's 'South Pacific'!)
