A mother has expressed her concerns on the Facebook page Coupon Mama UK, about her young daughter's Sophie the giraffe toy.

She posted the following photo on Facebook when she discovered that the inside of the toy was covered in a poisonous mould.

She made the discovery when an unpleasant smell started coming from the toy, at which point she found a poisonous substance growing inside.

The New Jersey mum told Good Housekeeping that she regularly recommends the toy to parents with teething children.

She told the magazine, "I decided to cut into Sophie out of curiosity and discovered a science experiment inside. Smelly, ugly mould living in my infant's favourite chew toy!"

It has since been found that a small hole in the toy allows liquid to seep in and mould to grow.

It seems like Sophie the giraffe might have to stay out of the bath time toy crew for now!
