The top 100 most popular baby names for 2016 have been revealed and there are a few surprises.
The research, which was conducted by parenting site BabyCentre, revealed that Oliver is the most popular name for boys, taking over from last year’s front runner Muhammed. But it's a different story for girls, as Olivia remains top of the list for the second year running.

Despite none of the top ten for both boys and girls being at all unusual, the top 100 has witnessed a rise in more uncommon names, with research suggesting that more parents are taking inspiration from celebrities.

The highest new entries in the boy's list include Arlo, Kai and Albie, with footballers Theo Walcott calling his newborn Arlo, and Coleen and Wayne Rooney’s son called Kai.
Luna, Lexi and Mya are the highest entries for girls, with many taking inspiration from this year’s Super Moon.
It’s not all celebrity-inspired though; names from Star Wars such as Leio, Finn and Kylo have also seen a rise.
