Sainsbury's just officially started The Great Houmous Disaster of 2017
Hou-must be joking!
The great houmous drought of 2017 has begun.
First, they took our Toblerones. Then, they took our aubergines.
And now, our nightmares have truly come to life in chickpea-form. Sainsbury’s have withdrawn houmous from their shelves.
“NOOOO,” we hear you cry. “What will I dip my mid-morning carrot sticks and pitta bread slices into? How am I supposed to make healthy snacks without the dreamy addition of a chickpea spread-cum-pot of heaven?”
We might just have to make do, despite the dietary heartbreak it brings upon us. We’ll probably have to put up with a watery tzatziki and overly-salted guacamole for a while. We might even have to resort to taramasalata, God forbid.
The heartbreak has been widespread, and Twitter has nearly imploded from the wave of realisations that we might actually have to entertain the idea of making our own version of the chickpea dip.
Pretty extreme stuff. To be fair to Sainsbury's though, they did do a pretty decent replacement version.
Nice save, guys.
