Following the success of the show in recent years, it's understandable that fans of Race Across The World were thrilled when the second celebrity edition kicked off on Wednesday 14th August, with Kelly Brook, Jeff Brazier, Scott Mills and Kola Bokinni all taking part.

The series saw this year's pairs all meet at the starting point in Belém, Northern Brazil - the gateway to the Amazon, with Kelly alongside her husband Jeremy, Jeff alongside his youngest son Freddy, Scott alongside his husband Sam, and Kola alongside his cousin Mary-Ellen, as they attempted to reach the final checkpoint in Frutillar, Chile.

⚠️ WARNING: The below contains major spoilers from all six episodes of Celebrity Race Across The World ⚠️.

After six epic weeks travelling across South America, the four pairs raced to the final checkpoint during Wednesday (18th September) night's episode, with just 39 minutes separating them when they left Tilcara.

Despite Jeff and Freddy having the most budget left for the final leg, it was Scott and Sam who reached the checkpoint first, followed by Kolo and Mary-Ellen, two hours and 20 minutes later.

Jeff and Freddy then arrived in third place, 20 hours and 14 mins later, whilst Kelly and her husband Jeremy were the last pair to reach the checkpoint, 21 hours and 36 minutes behind the winners.

Although Scott and Sam won the race, many viewers of the show were quick to express their love for Jeff's relationship with his youngest son Freddy, with many even dubbing the pair the 'people's winners'.

One wrote: 'Freddy and Jeff are my winners. Fantastic people, great dad and son relationship. Amazing to watch them together. Fantastic'. (sic)

Another added: 'This has been brilliant, congratulations to Scott and Sam for winning but Jeff and Freddie won our hearts what a fabulous relationship this father and son have, they won in the relationship stakes 👏👏'. (sic)

A third commented: 'Freddie & Jeff were the peoples winners 🏆', with a fourth writing: 'So wanted Jeff and Freddy to win! What an open and honest journey they’ve been on!'. (sic)

After admitting his reasons for taking part were to spend more time with his son, Jeff and Freddy embarked on an emotional journey, with the pair candidly opening up to each other.

Freddy, who lost his mum Jade Goody when he was just four-years-old, left viewers in tears during episode four when he admitted he has no real memories of his mum.

Holding back the tears as he spoke, Freddy said: "I lost my mum when I was four and that was on Mother's Day, which is really hard. I don't really like showing my emotions. I don't even speak to my dad much about my mum either. I just avoid it. I prefer to bottle it up.

"I don't want to feel like I'm a burden to them. A lot of my memories that I have of my mum have come from watching a documentary, YouTube clips, newspapers, they are not my memories.

"I don't really remember being held by my mum. If I had more memories of her, it would have made it a whole lot harder for me.

"But I think I would rather that than not really remember the things that I had done with my mum. It's just life really and I've kind of accepted that."

The journey also saw Jeff attempt to teach his son quality life lessons, including budgeting money and decision making.

At the same time the final episode aired, Freddy celebrated his 20th birthday, with dad Jeff writing on Instagram: 'Happy Birthday to our Freddy ❤️

'I hope your 20th year brings you infinite health & happiness.

'It’s been my great privilege to watch you grow & I’ll be there by your side no matter the challenge.

'Speaking of which, thank you for making my race experience one I’ll never forget. You have so many endearing qualities and you gave me so many wonderful moments so thank you my greatest teacher.

'Love you ❤️'. (sic)
