U2 release 'Atomic City' with music video filmed on location in Las Vegas

U2 have released a brand new single called 'Atomic City'. The song is named after a nickname for Las Vegas, where they also start their residency today (29th September).

Along with releasing the new music, the band also released the music video for the song, which is filmed on location in Las Vegas.

Since releasing the video, fans have been taking to the comments section to leave many excited comments, one wrote: 'U2 have been one of my fav bands since the 80's and I'm so IMPRESSED that they continue to crank out incredible music decade after decade - this is another song! WOW!', with another saying: 'There is something legit about this song. I think the producing is spot on. I hear the band. Please release a whole album that sounds like this.'

U2 only announced the new music earlier this week, taking to their socials, they simply confirmed the name and release date in the caption, along with the artwork.

Before releasing the song, the band performed the song for some fans in Las Vegas as they were recording the music video, the event was shared on social media, where Bono told the audience: "I hope you like this song, it's written about you! It's called 'Atomic City', which is another nickname for Las Vegas - I don't know if you knew.

"Anyway, we just recorded this song for this last week, so we're making a video for a song which isn't finished really. We recorded it in Sound City in Los Angeles, last week, 'Atomic City', that's what it's called, and we're going to do it a couple of times, because we're making a really low budget video, you know? So...OK!"

The release date of 'Atomic City' coincides with the first night of U2's Las Vegas residency, which will see the band to their 'Achtung Baby' live shows without Larry Mullen Jr.

'U2:UV Achtung Baby Live At The Sphere' starts this Friday, however it will be without U2’s co-founder and drummer Larry Mullen Jr. Larry is taking time out to recuperate from surgery in 2023, which means Bono, The Edge and Adam Clayton have drafted in drummer Bram van den Berg as his replacement for the shows.

‘Achtung Baby’ was the band's seventh studio album, released in 1991, and spawn several hits, including ‘The Fly’, ‘One’, ‘Mysterious Ways’ and ‘Even Better Than The Real Thing.’
