The Wombles announce limited edition vinyl featuring all their singles

It's been a massive 50 years since The Wombles enjoyed chart domination with three of their songs being in the chart simultaneously, 'The Wombling Song', 'Remember You’re A Womble' and 'Banana Rock'.
Now, 50 years on, and the novelty band have announced they will be releasing a limited edition vinyl called 'Golden'. The record will feature all of their singles, including 'Wombling USA' which was previously only available as a B side of a limited cassette release in 2000.
Only 500 LP copies of 'Golden' will be produced, featuring the Womble's songs remastered and in chronological order. Speaking about 'Wombling USA', which was originally written by Mike Batt back in 1975, he said: "I had been contemplating a 5th Wombles album, and this would have been the lead single on it.
"After recording it, CBS/Sony and I decided to convert The Wombles deal into a solo deal, and I made my first solo album 'Schizophonia' which was very successful internationally.
"Releasing ‘Wombling USA’ at that time would have pulled focus from my solo stuff, and it was shelved indefinitely. There's always been pressure from the more knowledgeable Womble fans to release it!"
He added about the album's release: "The Golden anniversary certainly makes me think about the ridiculous fun we had, and that what we thought of as a temporary moment in pop has endured beyond our expectations. I'm not sure which is the bigger thrill, having the three singles in the chart simultaneously at the time, or looking back on it 50 years later!"
