This 80s one hit wonder is a HUGE hit with teens and here's why...

The 1983 pop song Break My Stride by Matthew Wilder will remind you of a time of cheesy music, one hit wonders and Top of the Pops.

So you may be surprised to read that it's now a hit thanks to youngsters and the rising popularity of TikTok.

The song is part of a new viral meme that involves teens across the world filming and sharing with the internet and as a result of the trend it is quickly regaining its popularity.

The famous opening line of the song "Last night I had the strangest dream..." is being sent via text by young TikTok users to friends and family followed by each subsequent line of the songs lyrics to see how long it would take for the recipient to join in.

Complicated? It's way simpler than it sounds! To prove it here's an example of a few in action...

But the real point of curiosity is HOW did this random song from the 80s find it's way to becoming a TikTok sensation?

The man in question isn't sure either and 37 years after he wrote and recorded the song Matthew Wilder told the BBC "I'm astonished and I'm thrilled! It's that simple."

The song has been played more than 62 million times on TikTok and it's growing in popularity each day, even making an appearance on viral charts including Spotify's Viral 50 and Apple Music's Top 100.
