Geri Horner: recording George Michael tribute was a 'healing' experience
The late singer was a close friend of the Spice Girl.
Geri Horner has revealed that recording the tribute to her late friend George Michael was a 'healing' experience.
Angels in Chains was released on Monday 19th June as a tribute to the late 'Father Figure' singer, who passed away on Christmas Day last year.
Recalling the feeling of being in the studio, Geri told Billboard: "Yes, it was very emotional. It made me realise that the power of each other, coming together, we can heal each other by just being open."
Geri teamed up with George's long-time producer Chris Porter, as well as musicians that he had regularly worked with, to create the track. Backing singer Shirley Lewis was also involved, of whom Geri said:
"I'm in such admiration of her. She heard the demo and flew over to England, and she sang on it. She gave this amazing soul vibe - hearing her sing on this, it just blew me away. It was a very healing thing - they all cuddled each other when they saw each other."
All the proceeds from Angels in Chains will go to Childline, George's favourite charity, for which Geri is now an ambassador.
