Elton John pays tribute to George Michael as his 'kindest, most generous friend'
"He was one of the most brilliant songwriters this country's ever produced"
Elton John paid tribute to his late friend George Michael on his Beats 1 show.
"Not only was he a good friend, but he was probably one of the most brilliant songwriters this country's ever produced, and certainly one of the best vocalists ever," the Rocket Man singer said.
"One of the best in the world."
Praising his friend's songwriting skills, Elton singled out George Michael's 'One More Try'.
"I don't get jealous of many songs, but I'm jealous of this song. I'd love to have written this."
Elton and George were longtime friends, and famously duetted together on 'Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me' in 1991.
"I just want to remember him for his wonderful music and his kindness, which people are commenting on. He was the kindest, most generous man, and did it without wanting any publicity. I've seen him being so kind to so many people," Elton concluded.
"I'll miss him so much for his music but more than anything for his humanity."
