Cobstone Mill, better known as the iconic windmill used in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, as well as Jonathan Creek and Midsomer Murders, has gone up for sale.

The windmill, along with the main house, garage, swimming pool and nearly 40 acres of land, are currently on the market for a balmy £9 million. The windmill, set in the Buckinghamshire countryside, overlooks the village of Turville, which was used to film The Vicar of Dibley.

The windmill's exterior was chosen by Albert ‘Cubby’ Broccoli for the famous film back in the 60s, and the outside of the windmill was restored to make it suitable. Following the success of the film, The Parent Trap actress Hayley Mills and her husband bought the iconic property in 1971.

Following Hayley a number of people owned the property including David Brown of Aston Martin, who sold it to the current owners.

The main house features an open-plan living room, kitchen, utility room, ground floor master bedroom suite and bathroom, with a further two bedrooms, and bathroom on the first floor.

Meanwhile, the iconic windmill has a reception room, two bedrooms, and a shower room.

The listing also includes a double garage with a bedroom, shower room, kitchenette, and outbuildings, swimming pool, formal gardens, grounds and paddocks, across around 36.7 acres.

The property is being sold by Savills, and speaking about the listing, Stephen Christie-Miller, head of Savills Henley, said: "From the moment you arrive at Cobstone Mill it becomes immediately clear how special this property is and for many it will be instantly recognisable.

"From the beautiful architecture of the windmill to the spectacular views down the Hambleden Valley, Cobstone Mill has to be seen to be believed and this is even before you bring into consideration the home’s extensive film history.

"I am sure that the home's unique heritage combined with today’s offering, in a prime Buckinghamshire location, will appeal to both domestic and international buyers that are looking for the best of the best. Yes some homes claim to be iconic, however nothing comes close to Cobstone Mill."
