Bananarama are reuniting for a tour 38 years after they formed

Keren, Sara and Siobhan are back! 🎶

"The tour is the main thing but we have talked about doing a single together."

Before Sugababes, All Saints and The Spice Girls, there was Bananarama. And this morning we heard the news we've been waiting for for years: the biggest girl band of the 80s have reunited!

Keren Woodward, Sara Dallin and Siobhan Fahey are reuniting for their first ever tour this year, since Siobhan Fahey left the group in 1988.

The girlband announced the news on their Twitter this morning, cueing all the excitement that this is the VERY FIRST time that the original line-up are playing live all together!

“Keren and I have toured as a duo for years, but we never toured or played live with Siobhan,” Sara explained. “We’ve been talking about this idea for a while and now the moment has finally arrived it’s incredibly exciting! Lots of fans have often asked ‘please just do one tour with Siobhan,’ so now their wishes have come true.”

After their somewhat tumultuous split back in 1988 when Siobhan Fahey quit to form Shakespears Sister, Keren and Sara continued the band with Jacquie O'Sullivan for three years. They had two Top 10 hits with 'I Want You Back' (1988) and 'Help!' (1989).

But it's fair to say that Bananarama had their biggest hits in their original line-up, including Robert De Niro's Waiting, Cruel Summer and Venus.

Robert De Niro's Waiting (1984) hit No.3 in the UK, and it stands to date in a three-way tie as the band's highest-charting UK hit. And Venus, although it was first written back in 1969 by Robbie van Leeuwen, found huge success again with the girl group in 1986, reaching No.1 in seven countries.

The trio will be reuniting for a 15-date tour all over the UK, starting in November 2017.
