A Brazilian great-grandmother has reportedly been praying to a figurine of Elrond from Lord of the Rings, mistaking him for Saint Anthony, the late Portuguese priest and patron saint of lost things.
Gabriela Brandão, who lives on the island city of Florianópolis in Brazil, made the discovery just before the New Year.
She uploaded three photos on Facebook on 30th December 2016 with the caption, 'A descoberta mais engraçada de 2016', which translates as 'The funniest discovery of 2016'.
Her post has since been shared nearly 4,000 times.
The text on the photos says,
1 – 'My daughter's great-grandmother prays to this Saint Anthony every day' 2 – 'Looking more closely:'
She then posted a photo of the same figurine, with the description from an online auction site: 'Details about Elrond, Figurine from "Lord of the Rings 3"'.
