Kim Wilde's dad Marty receives his MBE award at Buckingham Palace
He was handed his award by the Queen!
Marty Wilde, fifties pop star and father of Kim, has received an MBE for services to popular music. He was handed the prestigious award by the Queen, at Buckingham Palace.
Marty was discovered in London at the age of 17, and became one of the UK's first rock 'n' roll heartthrobs. He had a long string of hits, including Endless Sleep, Rubber Ball and Abergavenny.
He also made regular appearances on the BBC show 6.5 Special, and was a regular on ITV's Oh Boy! and Boy Meets Girls.
Kim posted a photo to Twitter of the whole family there to support Marty at Buckingham Palace, with the caption: 'So proud to accompany Dad with sis Roxy and mum Joyce to Buckingham Palace for his MBE Award! sic'
The 'Kids in America' singer later posted a photo of her dad smiling and holding his award, with the caption: 'Nice one Dad @bigmartywilde. You're a true legend in every sense of the world and we love you.'
Many congratulations to Marty for his honour!
