Country music superstar Dolly Parton has achieved an incredible amount throughout her career, and has turned her hand to music, acting and philanthropy. Her latest project has been writing her debut book, called Run Rose Run, as well as an album of the same name which accompanies the book.
Dolly took to social media on 4th March to reveal that the 'Run Rose Run' album had been released, although fans had to wait until 7th March to read the novel. The album contains 12 original songs, and the track 'Big Dreams And Faded Jeans' was released early on 14th January.
The thriller book is set in Nashville and follows a young woman pursuing her dreams of becoming a musician, while trying to escape her dark past. The accompanying album is based on the book, it's characters and the storyline.
Dolly teamed up with bestselling author James Patterson to create the book, which is available as a hardback, e-book and audiobook. Fans will be able to hear an amazing cast of actors - including Dolly Parton herself - bring the characters to life in the audiobook version of the novel.
Speaking about Dolly's role in creating the novel and audiobook, the publisher Penguin Random House UK said: “Though Run Rose Run is the first novel Dolly Parton has ever written, she is no stranger to either audiobook recording or major acting roles, so found herself on familiar territory when she stepped into a Nashville recording studio to read the part of Ruthanna Ryder, a beloved country icon attempting to retire from the business when a gifted young performer begins to captivate audiences in the bar she owns.”
Country singer and writer Kelsey Ballerini has also voiced a character in the audiobook, and Dolly revealed how excited she was about the casting choice: "I’m thrilled to share the news that Ruthanna’s fledgling counterpart in the story, a brilliant young singer/songwriter with a mysteriously dark past, is narrated by Kelsea Ballerini, who I knew from the beginning could bring the right balance of vulnerability, ferocity, and sparkling wit to the character AnnieLee.
"We just can’t wait to share our performances, woven into the work of the rest of the amazing cast of professional narrators, with Run Rose Run.”
