Investigations set to begin after bungalow explosion in Kent

Officials are still unclear as to what caused a bungalow to explode in Ashford yesterday morning.

A woman was airlifted to hospital ,after the blast on Canterbury Road in Charing.

Cordons were in place and a spokesperson from Kent Fire and Rescue told us the property was significantly damaged.

The service says it's been focusing on making the area safe, then it'll be able to start investigating what caused the blast.

During the incident, a dog living at the property walked out of the rubble to firefighters and has since been checked over by a vet.

The service posted this update at 9.30pm yesterday: "All hotspots have been extinguished and firefighting operations are now complete at the scene of the bungalow fire in Canterbury Road in Charing.

"Kent Police are now managing the scene and the road will remain close until further notice.

"An investigation into the cause will begin when it is safe to do so."
