About Darren Redick
DARREN REDICK
Darren was immersed in music and dance from a very early age as his mother was a ballet teacher and his father was the principal oboist with the National Symphony Orchestra in Washington DC.
He graduated from North Carolina School of the Arts, studied at New York City Ballet’s School of American Ballet and danced for English National Ballet, toured with Sylvie Guillem and was part of the National Theatre cast of Carousel in 1992. Also, a blink and you’ll miss it turn in Pride & Prejudice – the Colin Firth one!
Favourite classical composer: Prokofiev or Stravinsky
Desert island classical piece: Prokofiev’s Romeo & Juliet – nothing else even comes close for me!
Absolutely essential film score: Blade Runner – I’m a real synthesizer nut!
Classical tune most likely to sing in the shower: I often catch myself singing Khachaturian’s Sabre Dance. Love the percussion in it.
