The world of TV gameshows is hugely popular right now, with shows such as The Traitors, Big Brother and The 1% Club having the nation hooked. Earlier this year, ITV/STV bosses launched a brand new series called The Fortune Hotel, with actor Stephen Mangan hosting the show.

Made up of eight episodes, the thrilling and high-octane show involved 10 pairs of contestants arriving at The Fortune Hotel, where they were given a briefcase. One briefcase was filled with £250,000 cash, and the pair in possession of that briefcase at the end of the series were crowned the winners.

Is The Fortune Hotel getting a second series?

Following the success of series one, in July 2024, it was announced The Fortune Hotel will be getting another series, with early applications opening up.

Director of Reality and Acquisitions at ITV, Paul Mortimer, said: “The Fortune Hotel proved to be genuine, talked about television, captivating the audience from start to finish with its ingenious format and numerous twists and turns. Highly acclaimed by viewers and the Press, we're thrilled to be bringing this wonderful show back for a second season."

Executive Producer, Steph Harris, added: “We're thrilled to be opening the doors of the Fortune Hotel again and can't wait to see who will be checking in to play a gripping game of subterfuge and are already planning lots of deliciously devious surprises to ensure our guests never get too comfortable during their stay.”

When is it on TV?

There's been no word on when series two will air, but with filming due to take place in October/November this year, we imagine The Fortune Hotel will return in 2025.

Series one started on 13th May 2024.

How to apply?

Applicants were being urged to register their interest for series two of The Fortune Hotel.

The application website stated: 'Welcome and thank you for your interest in applying for The Fortune Hotel. We’re looking for teams of two to strategize, scheme and swap their way to a huge cash prize of up to £250,000. We want contestants who are outgoing, confident and not afraid to voice their opinions. A poker face and the ability to spot a lie will also be useful…

'The show will be filmed at a luxury resort in a tropical destination and will require you to be able to commit to being away for up to 4 weeks. It helps to supply as much information as you can about yourself and the partner who you think would be the best person to help you take home the fortune (Please note that we cannot guarantee that either you and/or your nominated partner will be selected to participate)'.

Applications closed at midnight on 27th September 2024.
