Kate Bush has confirmed she’s planning to start work on her 11th studio album.

The music legend hasn’t released any new music since her critically acclaimed 2011 record ‘50 Words for Snow’, however speaking to the BBC, Kate Bush has revealed that her creative juices are flowing once again.

"I'm very keen to start working on a new album," Bush said. "I've got lots of ideas. I'm really looking forward to getting back into that creative space. It's been a long time."

She went on to stress that the new material has “got to be different” from her past musical output as she likes all her albums to be distinct.

Asked whether she’s planning to perform live for the first time since her 22-date Before the Dawn residency at London Eventim Apollo in 2014, Bush replied: "I'm not there yet.”

Kate Bush’s timeless 1985 anthem ‘Running Up That Hill’ climbed to Number 1 on the UK singles chart in June 2022, thanks to its usage in the fourth season of Netflix show Stranger Things.

She set three Guinness World Records in the process - the longest-ever gap between Number 1 singles (44 years), the longest time taken for a single to reach Number 1 (37 years), and Kate Bush also became the oldest female artist ever to score a Number 1 at 63 years and 11 months.

Kate Bush's 'Little Shrew (Snowflake') video:

The iconic singer’s rare BBC interview was to promote the new animated film she has written directed called ‘Little Shrew (Snowflake).’

The music for the short film is a new 2024 radio edit of the track ‘Snowflake’, which originally appeared on Kate Bush’s ‘50 Words For Snow’ album.

The film, just over four minutes long, depicts a little shrew searching for hope as she makes her way across a bombed-out city.

At the end of the film the following message appears: ‘You could be hope for a child caught up in war. Please donate to War Child.’
