Woman and dog killed in crash in Herne Bay

A woman in her 60s and her dog have been killed in a crash involving a taxi in Herne Bay, Kent.

A black cab collided with the pair between the Chestfield and Greenhills roundabouts on the A2990, Old Thanet Way at around 8:30pm last night.

Ambulance crews attended along with police, but their injuries proved to be fatal and both owner and dog were sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

The woman's next of kin has been informed, and officers have not made any arrests over the crash so far.

Police say that investigators are looking into the circumstances of the incident and have urged witnesses who have not yet spoken to police to come forward.

Officers investigating a fatal collision in Herne Bay are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

Kent Police was called at 8.30pm on Friday 6 September 2024 to a report of a collision on the A2990, Old Thanet Way involving a car and a pedestrian walking a dog.

A black taxi was travelling towards Herne Bay when the collision occurred between the Chestfield and Greenhill roundabouts.

Officers attended along with South East Coast Ambulance Service and a woman in her 60s and a dog were pronounced deceased at the scene. The woman’s next of kin has been informed.

Serious collision investigators are investigating the circumstances and are urging witnesses who have not yet spoken to police to come forward.
