Three women injured in drive-by shooting in Wolverhampton

West Midlands Police have launched an investigation following a drive-by shooting in Wolverhampton.

Officers were first called to reports of shots being fired from a car on Frederick Street at around 11pm on Friday evening (September 27th).

Three women were injured as a result of the attack, and were taken to hospital in the wake of the incident.

After being examined by medical professionals, two of the women injured in the shooting were discharged, whilst a third remains in hospital in a stable condition.

CCTV is now being sought by officers as they try to identify those involved in the shooting, as well as carrying out other lines of enquiry.

In a statement, West Midlands Police said investigations are now underway to work out why the women were targeted.

They went on to add: "Such violence is unacceptable and won't be tolerated."

Officers have also confirmed that increased police presences will be felt in the local area in an effort to reassure the public and local residents in the vicinity of the crime scene.
