A pedestrian has died after being struck by a police vehicle in Nuneaton in Warwickshire.

Warwickshire Police confirmed that the man - believed to be in his 60s - had collided with the police vehicle at 8:45pm on Friday evening (September 13th).

It is believed that the vehicle was en route to another emergency incident when the car struck the man, according to the force.

The victim suffered serious head injuries with paramedics attending the scene to give emergency medical treatment.

However, despite their best efforts, the man was sadly pronounced dead at the scene, officers confirmed.

The officers that had been in the vehicle were not injured in the collision, which took place on the B4113 Coventry Road, close to the junctions with Gipsy Lane and the Griff roundabout.

Investigations into the collision have now been launched, with Warwickshire Police referring itself to the Independent Office for Police Conduct, as per protocol.

The victim's family has been informed of his death, with the force apologising for the accident, adding: "Our thoughts remain with the man's family and friends at this time."

Meanwhile, an appeal has been launched to help gather the context that led to the man's death.
