The Metropolitan Police officers have launched an investigation following a fatal stabbing at a market in Walworth.

The force were alerted to the incident taking place in East Street in the borough of Southwark at around 10:40am on Sunday morning (November 10th).

During the incident, three people had been injured after being stabbed by the assailant, with one man sadly dying at the scene.

Emergency services, including the Met Police and London Ambulance Service were called to the scene where they treated the injured.

Following this, an investigation into the incident was launched, and a man in his sixties was arrested before being taken into police custody.

Investigations are now underway to identify the victim who lost his life, as well as finding his next of kin.

Two other victims, a man and a woman, were later taken to hospital for medical treatment; their conditions are not yet known.

Speaking about the case, Commander Peter Stevens said: "Tragically, a man lost his life this morning, and officers are working hard to establish exactly what happened and to provide support to his family. My thoughts and sincere sympathies are with them, and with the other people injured."

He added: "Our investigation is at a very early stage. One man was rapidly arrested by officers responding to the incident. At present, although enquiries are ongoing, nobody else is sought."

Stevens went on to confirm that the incident is not believed to be a terrorist incident, and that investigations into the attack are continuing.

He also urged those who may have any information on the incident, including anyone who may have witnessed the stabbings to come forward.

Those who may have information can get in touch by calling 101 and quoting incident reference number 2690/10Nov.
