Woman in a critical condition in hospital after a serious assault in Cherry Willingham
One man has been arrested
A woman in her 80's has been seriously assaulted in Cherry Willingham and is in a critical condition in hospital.
On Monday lunchtime Police were called out to reports a woman had suffered multiple injuries at an address on Elm Avenue.
An 84-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and has been released on bail while enquiries continue.
Police say they believe it to be an isolated incident,
Lincolnshire Police have said:
"Officers and forensic investigators remain on scene while we work to establish the circumstances, and we will likely be in the area over the next few days.
"We know that there is a lot of interest and concern from the local community, and we would like to reassure residents that this is an isolated incident and those involved knew each other.
"We would ask that you do not speculate about the incident online so that we can complete our investigations."
