What was life like for black LGBT people in the 1980's?
The University of Lincoln are hosting a virtual viewing of 'Queer black British' tomorrow
It's a Sin has helped raised awareness about life for the LGBT community in the 1980's and now the University of Lincoln is following in it's footsteps.
Tomorrow (22nd February) they'll be a virtual viewing of 'Queer black British', which will portray the experiences of black LGBT people, mainly in the 1980's.
They'll also be an online panel discussion.
Dr Chris O'Rourke one of the organisers said:
"One of the things that was important to us, when we were planning the event, was to carry on some of the conversations that have come out of the Black Lives Matter movement, and also debates about the lack of racial diversity and understanding British History.
"One of the silver linings of holding the event online, is that we can open it up to people who wouldn't normally be able to get Lincoln, and we can certainly bring together speakers, who would be difficult to get all in the same place, at the same time ordinarily."
