Pet owners in Lincolnshire and Newark warned to be cautious walking dogs in the hot sun

We’re being warned that the hot temperatures can be fatal for dogs.
It comes as the Met Office has predicted temperatures to reach as high as 30 degrees across Lincolnshire and Newark.
Hannah Cardey is a veterinary nurse at the Blue Cross pet hospital in Grimsby, she said:
“If dogs are walking on the pavement when it’s very hot, it can burn their paws which can cause them to become really sore. We always recommend for people to put their hand on the floor, if you can’t keep your hand on the floor for very long – it means it will be too hot for their paws as well.
The Blue Cross Hospital are giving advice on how you can keep your dog cool, Hannah said:
“You can give them ice cubes to play with or cold packs they can lay on. A lot of people tend to cover their dogs with wet towels, that’s the wrong thing to do as that can actually trap the heat.”
