The Lincs and Notts Air Ambulance say they're experiencing huge demand with this year so far its busiest on record.

The charity have responded to over 11 hundred missions in 2023 - nearly double what it was 3 years ago.

We spoke to Chris Bailey from the service about the increased number of call outs.

He told us: "We're going to the most seriously ill patients - so if you think road traffic collisions at high speed, people falling through roofs, injuries. shootings and stabbings."

We helped a girl who was hit by a truck

"We'll be in the air in the helicopter in under 4 minutes flying at about 180 miles an hour bringing a doctor and a paramedic to the scene."

"Examples include a young boy who fell down a muddy bank and his handlebars impaled on his leg."

"Another girl who was hit by a HGV truck coming out of a 4th birthday party."

"Both of those boys and girls walked through the doors of our base here months after those incidents because of what we do."

Call out for air ambulance

"In 2023 so far we responded to 1,162 missions that's for just the first three months of the year."

"Three years ago, to put that into context we responded to 616 at the same point - so we're not far off double of where we were three years ago."

"I would say there might be a little more incidents going on as the population and certainly in Lincolnshire increases."

"We've responded over the last 5 years - we're now a 24/7 service, we fly until 2 in the morning."
