Scunthorpe United: Staff facing redundancies
It's as the Iron face likely relegation from the national league
The owner of Scunthorpe United says there will be job losses, while the club is to close for much of the week in the future and their academy youth operation will go.
David Hilton says he's planning for relegation from the National League.
The Iron currently sit just one place from the bottom of the table.
He will also move training to an artificial pitch at his former club Ilkeston in Derbyshire to save money although he plans a new facility in the longer term.
Mr Hilton says the money situation means they have to take tough decisions:
"There will be redundancies at the club. We're going to be speaking to staff this week and seeing how that looks.
"Seeing which staff have to come across to Ilkeston because they work closely with the players.
"There will be staff that will remain at the club. But predominantly the club will close down in the week. It needs to. I think everybody needs to fully appreciate where this club is at.
"If we are going to start again and rebuild - we need to do this from a level that is realistic, and all focus and all surplus monies need to be able to go into the playing side.
"It's not just the business. The football is the entertainment and success will bring bigger revenue. Put quite simply that is something that has the happen."
