The RSPCA in Lincolnshire says it responded to 94 cases where an animal was impacted by litter.

Many of them saw them becoming trapped.

Examples include an owl which became trapped in wire and was hanging from high rise cables.

Inspector Geoff Edmond says it was very upsetting to see it there and no one had a clue how long it has been stuck there.

There was also a hedgehog which couldn't free itself from some netting whilst a duck had a fish hook trapped down its throat and another of the birds had metal round its neck.

Across the country the RSPCA had around 4 thousand incidents of this type.
