Ethan Hayter took the men's time trial title
Ineos Grenadiers rider Ethan Hayter took the men's time trial title at the British National Road Championships in Lincolnshire.
The 23-year-old, who won silver in the Madison at this summer's Tokyo Olympics, maintained his impressive form to deliver a ninth victory of the season ahead of Ribble-Weldtite pair Dan Bigham and James Shaw.
Hayter completed the 44.7 kilometres three-lap hilly circuit through Tealby in 56 minutes and 41 seconds, with Bigham 37 seconds slower and Shaw 50secs off the pace.
A fast start saw Hayter pull clear with an opening lap of 18:37, and although his pace slowed over the remain circuits, it proved enough to keep him clear of his nearest riders.
Israel Start-Up Nation's Alex Dowsett, who had won the event six times, was unable to mount a challenge for the podium.
Earlier, Hayter's brother Leo (DSM Development) had claimed the under-23s title.
