A new project in Newark is looking to tackle a rise in anti social behaviour there.

Earlier this year - several play parks were vandalised with fences being ripped down, safety matting torn from the surfaces and a bench dislodged from concrete fixings.

That's been happening in Balderton, Hawtonville and other locations.

Notts police and crime commissioner Caroline Henry tells us a new project scheme is coming in January- which will see perpetrators clean up the damage they cause.

They will get the opportunity to put it right

She told us: "For example if someone had been involved in some pesky graffiti and they'd been caught very quickly - rather than going through the court process - they get the opportunity to put that right."

"I'm really hopeful for them to understand what impact their behaviour is having and to feel that they've made it right - draw a line under it and move on."

"They'll be up to 25 hours of hotspot patrolling so I would encourage all your listeners - if you have an issue with anti social behaviour do report it because if they police don't know it's an issue there won't be those hotspot patrols."
