It's after several fires over the past month which police think were started deliberately

Police have renewed their appeal for information after yet another car was deliberately set on fire in Gainsborough last night.

Officers were called out to Apley Close at 3:56am, finding a Ford Focus alight.

It's just the latest in a string of incidents which have seen cars vandalised.

A Seat Ibiza was deliberately set on fire on Sandsfield Lane on the 10th of April.

Three vehicles were then set alight on Trinity Street on the 18th.

On the 20th, a van was targeted, again on Sandsfield Lane. A car was also vandalised on the same road.

The very next day nine lorry trailers were damaged in a fire on Learoyd Road in Hemswell Cliff. A fire was also started at Caenby Cliff.

Police say they don't think the fires are a 'series', but the incidents could be linked.

Inspector Gary Brockie, from Lincolnshire Police in West Lindsey, said: "Each incident is being investigated fully and these investigations remain ongoing."

"Neighbourhood officers are engaging with the local community looking to identify and explore every opportunity to identify and arrest the offenders."

"Enhanced patrols are ongoing within the area with support from our Specialist Operations Teams."

"We are working with colleagues from partner agencies such as Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue and West Lindsey District to try and identify anyone involved" he added.
